**fly2greece.net is a personal, independent guide to Greece and its islands, written since 2000 by one traveller who visits the places in person, shoots his own photographs and shares honest opinions.** It is not a booking portal or a sponsored listings site — it is one person's long-running record of the islands, villages, beaches, hotels and tavernas he has come to know.

## Who writes this site

My name is Hans Huisman. I live in Amsterdam in the Netherlands and I am an unashamed super-fan of Greece and its islands. I started this website in 2000 after many years of travelling through the country, and it has kept growing as I have visited more islands, villages, beaches, hotels, villas and restaurants. I usually travel to Greece two or three times a year, often in May, September and October.

Over the years I have explored the Cyclades, the Sporades, Corfu and the Ionian, the North Aegean islands, Rhodes and the Dodecanese, and Crete. Crete has become especially important to me, and I have spent a great deal of time driving around the island to find small villages, quiet beaches and places well away from mass tourism.

## How the site works

The information here is personal. I write original texts, use my own pictures wherever possible, and give honest opinions about places I have actually visited. If something is good I say so, and if something is disappointing I say that too. **You cannot pay me for a positive opinion** — the recommendations are mine, based on what I have seen. That independence is the whole point of the site, and it is why I keep writing it myself rather than filling it with paid listings.
