The name of Agios Dimitrios is best known as the name of a Byzantine church in the area of Pigi, which is not far from Rethimnon. On the picture here is the village of Agios Dimitrios (so something completely different and at a different location), which is just a small traditional village on the route Heraklion - Tylissos - Gonies Agios Dimitrios - Anogia and it is not much more than a small collection of typical white Greek houses.
It is a sleepy and quiet village set in the nature, with not much to do or see. Most people in the village live of farming and still live the traditional Cretan life.
