Hotels and Apartments on Patmos

Patmos, Dodecanese, Greece
Patmos, Dodecanese, Greece

Most places to stay on Patmos are in Skala, the lively port where the ferries dock, or in the quieter coastal village of Grikos, with a few tucked into peaceful bays like Sapsila and Loukakia. Skala stays busy even in September, while Grikos is calmer and some of its facilities close outside the high season, so where you stay shapes how quiet your Patmos will be.

Sapsila Bay

Mathio's Studios sit on a hill in the quiet Bay of Sapsila, a 2.5-kilometer walk from Skala on the way to Grikos, with five studios and two apartments run by the wonderfully hospitable Jakoumina. Ours was tastefully and personally decorated, with a large private balcony overlooking the bay - perfect for coffee in the morning or an ouzo in the evening - a well-equipped kitchen and a big bathroom. Best of all is Jakoumina's secret beach, reached through the garden: the nicest little beach we found on Patmos, where we never saw another soul. Mathios also rents a traditional stone house in the bay.
