Ways to get from Athens airport to your hotel
Athens has one airport, Athens Eleftherios Venizelos (ATH), and the ways to reach your hotel or the port are the same as across Greece. The five options below are ordered by how direct they are.
| Option | Best for | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Private transfer | Families and groups, door to door | Book ahead; a driver meets you at arrivals and takes you to your hotel for a fixed price. |
| Shared shuttle | Couples and solo travellers on a budget | A minibus drops several parties along the way; cheaper but slower. |
| Airport taxi | Getting going straight away | Licensed taxis wait outside arrivals and charge a regulated fare, with an airport and luggage surcharge. |
| Public bus | The cheapest way to the main town | Buses run to the town centre; from there you change for the resorts. |
| Car hire | Day trips | Pick up at the airport and drive yourself. |

Taxis and the bus
Athens airport taxis charge a fixed flat fare to the city centre, with a set day rate and a higher night rate, plus motorway tolls; a separate flat fare applies to Piraeus.
Metro line 3 runs from the airport to Syntagma in the centre and on to Piraeus, and the X95 and X96 express buses run around the clock to Syntagma and Piraeus, the cheapest way in. Piraeus and Rafina are the ferry ports for the islands.
