Do you need a car in Naxos?
A car is recommended on Naxos. Naxos rewards a car with its long southern beaches and the mountain villages of the interior. Buses link the main towns, but they run to their own timetable and skip the quiet corners.

Where to pick up a car in Naxos
You can collect a car at Naxos (JNX) and at the Naxos (Chora) port, and many agencies also deliver to your hotel. Book ahead for July and August, when the island fleets sell out and the walk-up desks run short.

Driving in Naxos
Naxos driving is on the right, like the rest of Greece, and the island roads are narrow and winding rather than fast. The mountain road climbs to Halki and Apiranthos, while the west coast strings together the island's longest sandy beaches. A smaller car is the easier choice for tight village streets and steep gradients.
