Do you need a car in Corfu?
A car is recommended on Corfu. Corfu's north and west coasts and its hill villages are slow and awkward to reach by bus. Buses link the main towns, but they run to their own timetable and skip the quiet corners.

Where to pick up a car in Corfu
You can collect a car at Corfu Ioannis Kapodistrias (CFU) and at the Corfu Town port, and many agencies also deliver to your hotel. Book ahead for July and August, when the island fleets sell out and the walk-up desks run short.

Driving in Corfu
Corfu driving is on the right, like the rest of Greece, and the island roads are narrow and winding rather than fast. The winding north-west coast road leads to Paleokastritsa, and a hill route climbs towards the old villages below Mount Pantokrator. A smaller car is the easier choice for tight village streets and steep gradients.
