Andros Restaurants: Where to Eat in the Chora, Batsi & Gavrio
Andros serves its food in the lanes of the neoclassical Chora, along the waterfront at Batsi and at the ferry port of Gavrio. The Chora keeps cafes, coffee shops and cheap, good fast-food places, Batsi lines its bay with restaurants and bars, and Gavrio feeds ferry travellers on the quay. Eating in Andros Chora
Andros Chora is the best place on the island for a meal or a coffee, with cafes, tavernas and fast-food places lining the marble-paved main street and the squares off it. Prices at the cheaper fast-food spots are low and the food is often very good. Two places Hans stopped at are the 7th Heaven Coffeeshop, good for a drink and a light bite, and Pita of Achora, a quick, cheap pita and gyros stop. The old centre is closed to cars, so you can sit on a terrace in the shade and watch the town go by.
Eating in Batsi
Batsi, the main resort, lines its sheltered bay with restaurants, tavernas and bars, and holds most of the island's dining choice alongside its beach, two small supermarkets and its nightlife. Among the places here are the China Dragon Restaurant, a Chinese restaurant in the town, and Litsas Pizza Restaurant for a pizza by the water. It is the easiest base for eating out, since everything is within a short walk of the beach and the accommodation.
Eating in Gavrio
Gavrio, the ferry port, is a busy little village with a spread of tavernas along the harbour front, handy while you wait for a boat. Perrakis Crepery here is a good stop for a sweet or savoury crepe. Gavrio is more a place to eat on the way in or out than a dining destination in itself, but it does the job before a ferry.
