Leros Restaurants: Where to Eat in Agia Marina, Pandeli and Alinda
Leros serves its best food around the harbours of Agia Marina and Pandeli and in the resort of Alinda. The fish tavernas of Pandeli cook fresh fish along the shore, Agia Marina and Alinda hold a spread of tavernas and bars, and the beach at Xirokambos in the south has a taverna at the water's edge. Agia Marina
Agia Marina, the harbour of the capital, is the natural place to eat in the evening on Leros. As the island's second port and main town it holds tavernas and bars along the water, and its restaurant Glaros is one of the spots Hans noted here. It is an easy walk down from Platanos, and the harbour keeps its ordinary Greek-island character with white houses and narrow lanes rather than the Italian style of Lakki.
Pandeli
Pandeli is the fishing village where you eat fresh fish on Leros. Its fish tavernas line the shore of Pandeli beach, 2 km below the capital, serving fresh fish and drinks under the tamarisk trees. The village is popular with locals and visitors alike, and the neighbouring beach of Vromolithos has more tavernas, mini-markets and bars a short walk away.
Alinda
Alinda, the largest resort on Leros, offers the widest choice of places to eat and drink. Along the beach and the boulevard you find a spread of restaurants, tavernas and bars, including the taverna To Steki and the Alinda Cocktail Bar that Hans visited here. Nearby, the beach of Lisgaria has a couple of tavernas and bars among its eucalyptus trees for lunch or a drink.
Xirokambos
Xirokambos, the golden-sand beach in the south of Leros, has a taverna right at the edge of the sand where the road reaches the village. The taverna Galini sits at the start of the beach, directly by the sea; Hans stopped here only for drinks and found it inexpensive. It makes a handy stop after a swim, and the bay is popular with day-trippers from nearby Kalymnos.
