Do you need a car in Mykonos?
A car is optional on Mykonos. Mykonos buses cover the main beaches well, so a car is optional but adds freedom to reach the quieter north. Buses and taxis cover the busy spots, so a car mainly buys you freedom and quieter beaches.

Where to pick up a car in Mykonos
You can collect a car at Mykonos (JMK) and at the the Old Port and New Port (Tourlos), and many agencies also deliver to your hotel. Book ahead for July and August, when the island fleets sell out and the walk-up desks run short.

Driving in Mykonos
Mykonos driving is on the right, like the rest of Greece, and the island roads are narrow and winding rather than fast. Roads lead to Elia and the calmer northern beaches, and inland to the old village of Ano Mera. A smaller car is the easier choice for tight village streets and steep gradients.
