Corfu Travel: Flights, Ferries and Boat Trips
Corfu has an international airport and ferry connections from Italy and mainland Greece, so most visitors reach the island by plane and continue to the neighbouring islands by boat. Corfu Town is the base for day cruises to Paxos, Antipaxos and the mainland, run by Ionian Cruises, and for longer trips to Kefalonia, Ithaca, Lefkada and Albania.

Getting to Corfu by air
Corfu has an international airport, so many countries offer direct flights during the holiday season. Check whether there are direct flights from your own country before you book. Flights from Athens also connect Corfu with the rest of Greece, so travellers without a direct route can fly in via the Greek capital.
Ferries to Corfu
Ferries connect Corfu with mainland Greece and with Italy, so drivers and foot passengers can reach the island by sea. Check the ferry times and tickets in advance, because sailings vary by season and by operator.
Boat excursions from Corfu
Corfu Town is the starting point for boat excursions to the neighbouring islands, the mainland and Albania, organised by Ionian Cruises. One popular cruise sails along the blue caves of Paxos, stops at a sandy beach on Antipaxos and ends in the main town of Gaios on Paxos, where you can walk around and eat in a taverna; this cruise costs 35 euros (2012) if you reach the port under your own transport. A second cruise calls at Plataria on the mainland just south of Igoumenitsa, then the "Blue Lagoon" in the Bay of Piscine, the Syvota cave that hid a submarine in the Second World War, and the Syvota islands of Agios Nikolaos, Mourtos and Gouroni before returning to Corfu.
Other excursion options from Corfu include the following trips.
- Cruise to the island of Kefalonia.
