Milina is a small village that is situated on the Pagasetic Gulf in the southwest of the Pelion peninsula. The distance between Milina and the capital city of Volos is about 48 kilometers. Just north of Milina is the fishing village of Chorto, which can be reached via a coastal road. In front of the village lie the islands Prasouda with the Zoodochos Pigi Monastery, and Alatas on which stands the Agioi Saranta monastery. Both monasteries date from the Byzantine period. From the village itself you can only seen Alatas, because Prasouda lies behind that island.
The islet Prasouda is oval shaped and really quite small. It's almost like Mouse island in Corfu island and it is a nice place to dive. The grave of a "vampire" has been found here. The person was buried with his head cut off and a wooden stake through the heart. Eventually the remains were thrown into the sea. With a private or rented boat you can go and see these two islands.
A few kilometers outside the village on top of a hill you can see the remains of the ancient city Olizon. It is a bit south of the village along the coastal road towards the village of Trikeri. In the ancient times the city had Olizon had a port on both sides of the peninsula. It is not clear how old the city is, but according to Homer Olizon participated in the Trojan war and supplied seven ships and 350 soldiers, 50 archers on each ship. Just outside the village of Milina and just across the road from the nearest beach you will also find a camping site with the same name, Olizon. In the village of Milina itself there is a beautiful sandy beach and in the area you can find several nice and quiet sandy beaches. There are several tavernas and there is a good choice in small scale accommodation for tourists in the village.
