Around the village of Karystos, in the south of the island of Evia, you will find a lot of beaches. To the west of the village are a lot of small and larger beaches. West beach, Gallida beach and Rigia beach are reachable after a few minutes walk, but after that there are also a lot of beaches to be found along the coast. These beaches are all not organized except for the beach that is I believe called Paximada beach or Paxamida beach (with the church of Agios Paraskevi nearby) where a small cantina is serving drinks and there is a small island with a lighthouse on it (about 10 kilometers outside of Karystos). In the vicinity of Cape Paxamida there are mainly some villas that are sometimes offered for rent to have a holiday. The roads are all well and asphalted. They lead along all sorts of beaches. Sometimes you have to walk a short distance, but most beaches are well accessible and quiet. The area is somewhat drier than the area immediately around Karystos, meaning there is less vegetation not so many trees.
