Potami Beach and the Potami waterfalls on the island of Samos in Greece
On the road to Potami there is an interesting church that overlooks the bay and the beach of Potami.
Potami is one of the beaches on the northcoast of Samos. You can reach the beach by car or on foot from Karlovassi.
If you go to Potami and walk along the river from the main road (it is impossible to reach from the beach where the river ends) you will reach a small waterfall after a short walk. On your way you will run into the beautiful old Metamorfosis Sortiros Chapel. From the back here there is a steep path leading towards the ruins of an old castle. The church is interesting, but personally I thought that the river and the waterfalls were less impressive, and more like a nice walk instead of a sightseeing. The nature is very beautiful with large trees along the path. In the end I found out that I never found the real waterfall.
The beach of Potami is a pebble beach but also with plenty of sand. From Potami there is a path leading to the beaches of Micro and Megalo Seitani (the other options are going there from the other side at the village of Drakei, or taking a path that are going from the road in between the villages Nikouloudes en Kosmadei). You will walk through a protected nature reserve. The route is clearly marked with road signs and arrows.
