Anafi Restaurants: Where to Eat
Anafi keeps its food in a handful of tavernas and cafeterias at Klissidi and in the Chora; there is no restaurant strip, so you eat where you stay. At Klissidi, Margaritas cooks a short daily menu and serves breakfast with a sea view; in the Chora, cafeterias such as Ta Plagia offer breakfast, snacks and ouzo. The island is quiet in the evening, so dinner is a relaxed affair on a terrace rather than a night out.

Klissidi: Margaritas
Klissidi holds the island's best-known table at Margaritas, the rooms and taverna where Hans stayed. It usually offers two main courses and two or three side dishes each day, and the cooking is very good; breakfast is served with a beautiful view over the sea. If Margaritas is quiet, the village tradition is to walk down and look in the pots of the neighbour below. Evenings here are spent on the terrace over food, ouzo and conversation. Where to stay at Klissidi is set out in the Anafi hotels & villas guide.
The Chora: Ta Plagia and cafeterias
The Chora keeps a few cafeterias and tavernas among its lanes and squares. Ta Plagia, a bed-and-breakfast in the village, runs a cafeteria that serves breakfast with hand-made marmalade and sweets, and in the evening offers snacks with traditional ouzo and raki. Eating in the Chora pairs a simple meal with the views and the quiet of the old town.
Where to eat by area
Where to eat on Anafi comes down to where you are: Klissidi for a taverna by the beach, the Chora for a cafeteria among the whitewashed streets, and the port of Agios Nikolaos for a quick bite by the ferry. Menus are short and seasonal, prices are low, and the choice is small, so treat dinner as part of the slow rhythm of the island. The villages and how they connect are set out in the Anafi island guide.
