Do you need a car on Amorgos?
A car is recommended on Amorgos. Amorgos is long and mountainous, with two ports, the Chora and its cliff monastery spread along the island. Buses link the main towns, but they run to their own timetable and skip the quiet corners.

Where to pick up a car on Amorgos
You can collect a car in the main town and at the Katapola and Aegiali ports, and many agencies also deliver to your hotel. Book ahead for July and August, when fleets sell out and the walk-up desks run short. Amorgos has no airport, so most drivers collect the car on arrival by ferry.

Driving on Amorgos
Amorgos driving is on the right, like the rest of Greece, and the roads are narrow and winding rather than fast. One winding road runs the length of the island between Katapola, the Chora, the Hozoviotissa monastery and Aegiali. A smaller car is the easier choice for tight village streets and steep gradients.
