A car is recommended on Skopelos. Skopelos is a green Sporades island whose beaches and two main towns are spread along a long coast. Buses link the main towns, but they run to their own timetable and skip the quiet corners.

Where to pick up a car on Skopelos
You can collect a car in the main town and at the Skopelos Town and Glossa ports, and many agencies also deliver to your hotel. Book ahead for July and August, when fleets sell out and the walk-up desks run short. Skopelos has no airport, so most drivers collect the car on arrival by ferry.

Driving on Skopelos
Skopelos driving is on the right, like the rest of Greece, and the roads are narrow and winding rather than fast. The main road runs from Skopelos Town to Glossa, past the pine-backed beaches and the clifftop church of Agios Ioannis. A smaller car is the easier choice for tight village streets and steep gradients.
