Do you need a car on Skyros?
A car is recommended on Skyros. Skyros splits into a green north and a barren south, with the Chora and the beaches spread apart. Buses link the main towns, but they run to their own timetable and skip the quiet corners.

Where to pick up a car on Skyros
You can collect a car at Skyros (SKU) and at the Linaria port, and many agencies also deliver to your hotel. Book ahead for July and August, when fleets sell out and the walk-up desks run short.

Driving on Skyros
Skyros driving is on the right, like the rest of Greece, and the roads are narrow and winding rather than fast. The road runs from the port at Linaria to the hilltop Chora and out to the northern beaches. A smaller car is the easier choice for tight village streets and steep gradients.
