Villas & self-catering
Koufonisia has few true villas, and the standout is the Windmill Villa, a self-catering house in a class of its own.
The Windmill Villa is a restored stone windmill on the south-west side of Pano Koufonisi, about 1 km from the harbour and 30 metres from the sea. The mill dates from 1830 and worked until 1956, and it is now a listed monument let as a four-star self-catering villa. It has 2 floors with 2 beds on each, a ground-floor kitchen and WC, and a paved courtyard with a view over Naxos, Kato Koufonisi, Glaronisi and Keros, and Amorgos on the far horizon. The whole building is rented as one, from a minimum of 7 nights, with a transfer to and from the port. It is the one self-catering stay on Koufonisia that feels like a small landmark rather than a studio.
