Koufonisia Restaurants: Where to Eat
Koufonisia serves its food in the Chora and around the port, where tavernas and bars cook fresh fish and Greek dishes. The island is small, so almost every place to eat sits within a short walk of the harbour. A single taverna stands out on Charokopou beach, the last stop for food and water before the east-coast beaches, and on a day trip to Kato Koufonisi the Venetsanos taverna is the only kitchen on the island.

The Chora and the port
The Chora and the port hold most of the tavernas and bars on Koufonisia. The centre of the town lies about 200 metres from the harbour, and its lanes serve fresh fish and Greek dishes alongside cafes and bars. Everywhere to eat is within an easy walk of where the ferries dock, because the Chora and the port run together as one settlement. This is the natural base for dinner, whichever beach you spend the day on.
On Charokopou beach
Charokopou beach, on the east coast, has a taverna right on the sand among the trees, with the island's campsite nearby. It is the last place to buy food and water before the beaches further east, so it is worth a stop if you are walking out towards Fanos, Italida and Pori. Beyond this point there are no more tavernas along the coast path.
On Kato Koufonisi
On a day trip to Kato Koufonisi, the Venetsanos taverna near the church of Panagia is the only taverna on the island. It sits by a beach and a jetty where the day boats moor, and it is the single place to buy something to eat or drink.
