Pelion Hotels & Villas: Where to Stay
Accommodation on Pelion spreads through the coastal resorts and the stone mountain villages, in hotels, guesthouses, studios and villas on both coasts. Agios Ioannis, Damouchari and Mouresi suit an east-coast base near the Aegean beaches, while Kala Nera, Afissos, Kato Gatzea and Lefokastro keep quieter rooms on the Pagasetic Gulf. East-coast Pelion: Agios Ioannis, Damouchari & Mouresi
The east coast keeps the resort hotels and the stone mountain guesthouses. In Agios Ioannis, the main resort, Hotel Manthos Blue sits on the beach between Plaka and Papa Nero, Hotel Sofoklis overlooks the main beach from the promenade with a pool, and Pansion Martha stands 15 metres from the sand with a seafront bar. In Damouchari, Villa Damma Mia is a stone-and-wood house on the beachfront and Kastro Studios stand 10 metres from the beach with a restaurant. Up in Mouresi, the stone-built Adis Oneirou has fireplace rooms with Aegean views, Miression Traditional Guesthouse adds a pool, and Hotel Lions Nine is an all-suites hotel with mountain and sea views. Faros keeps sea-view rooms above Milopotamos beach, and the Mikro Beach Hotel sits on the sand at Mikro.
West-coast Pelion: Kala Nera to Lefokastro
The Pagasetic Gulf keeps the family hotels and self-catering apartments close to the calm beaches. In Kala Nera, Hotel Agelis stands 20 metres from the beach with gulf-view rooms, free umbrellas and mountain bikes. At Kato Gatzea, Hotel Apartments Sikia II offers self-catering among the olive groves 100 metres from the sea with a seafront tavern. In Koropi, Vergonis Studios and Guesthouse Isalos keep quiet rooms by the sea, and in Afissos, Guesthouse Irene stands close to Ambovos beach. The far south: Kalamos, Chorto, Potistika & Trikeri
The far south keeps the quietest, most remote stays. Villa Damma Mia, Damouchari
Villa Damma Mia is a self-standing stone-and-wood house right on the beachfront of Damouchari, with two bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen with a Smeg fridge, and a cave-like outdoor dining area. Seafront tavernas, bars and a mini market are steps away, and fishing, hiking and snorkelling fill the surroundings. Agios Ioannis lies 3 kilometres away and Volos about 50 kilometres.
Maria's House, Chorto
Maria's House stands 15 metres from Chorto beach in the south of the peninsula, set in a lush garden with a stone-paved courtyard. It offers self-catered accommodation with free Wi-Fi, close to the harbour tavernas and the windsurfing beaches, in a village famous for its sunsets.

Choosing an area
Where to stay on Pelion depends on the holiday you want. The east coast around Agios Ioannis, Damouchari and Mouresi puts you on the wilder Aegean beaches and the greenest mountain villages, best reached over the Mount Pelion road. The Pagasetic Gulf around Kala Nera, Afissos, Kato Gatzea and Lefokastro keeps the calmest, shallowest beaches and the easiest drive from Volos, which suits families. The far south around Milina, Chorto and Trikeri is the most remote and peaceful.
