Sikinos Beaches: Alopronia, Agios Georgios & Malta
The one easy beach on Sikinos is the organised sandy bay at Alopronia; the rest lie along the south coast and are reached on foot or by caique from the port. Sikinos is a small, quiet island, so its beaches are few and mostly without facilities. Alopronia has the only sunbeds, umbrellas and tavernas; Agios Georgios, Agios Nikolaos and Malta are quieter stretches to the south. Away from the port, bring your own water and food.

Alopronia beach
Alopronia, the island's port, has the one organised beach on Sikinos: a large sandy bay with a few umbrellas and sunbeds, tavernas behind it and trees for shade. It is the easiest and most convenient beach, within a short walk of the harbour and the island's rooms, and the natural base for a beach day. South-coast beaches
The good beaches of Sikinos lie along the south coast, reached on foot or by caique from Alopronia. Agios Georgios, in the south-east, is the largest beach on the island; it can be reached by car or on foot over the paths from Alopronia and Chora, and while it has no amenities — in high season there may be a taverna — some trees give shade. Between Agios Georgios and Alopronia lies Agios Nikolaos, a quieter beach that can also be reached on foot. Both, like the other south-coast beaches, can be reached by caique from the port when the sea is calm.
Malta and the ancient ruins
A short walk north of Agios Georgios beach is Malta, a small cove of sand and pebbles and the site of some ancient ruins. It is one of the quietest corners of the coast, with no trees for shade, so it suits a short visit with your own water rather than a long day. Planning a beach day
Sikinos rewards simple planning. Alopronia is the only beach with sunbeds, umbrellas, tavernas and shade, so it is the safe choice for a family day and the fallback when the wind is up. For Agios Georgios, Agios Nikolaos and Malta, take the coastal path or a caique from the harbour, and carry your own water and food, as none of them has facilities. A calm sea makes the boat trips easy; when the Meltemi blows, the sheltered bay at Alopronia is the comfortable option.
