The village of Fourni on the island of Crete

The remarkable village of Fourni has a Byzantine church that is dedicated to Agios Ioannis Theologos dating from the fourteenth century and which contains frescoes. There are many other churches in the area (I think there are more churches than houses in this village) although the frescoes in the old ones are in a poor condition. The village of Fourni is about 17 kilometer distance from Agios Nikolaos through Elounda. In the wider area there are several Byzantine churches
In the village next to Fourni, which is called Kasteli, it is the same: there are many churches here and they all have a sign with the name of the church on it.
