The village of Kelaria on Crete
The village of Kelaria is found on the route from Sitia to Zakros near the middle of the east coast of Crete. The area is very beautiful with lots of pretty villages situated in a green valley with many olive trees and surrounded by mountains. The village of Kelaria is small and inhabited by some 20 mostly older people that are farmers. It's a traditional Cretan village with old stone built houses, a well taken care of little church and a spring for drinking water.
Kelaria is set on the foot of a hill. Most of the houses at the top of the village are stone houses that have fallen apart and some of them have large stone arches. These houses are all abandonned and only some of the houses closer to the road are inhabited. In front of the village is a fertile plain with olive trees and orange trees.
