The village of Pemonia on Crete
The village of Pemonia is a lovely small traditional Cretan village in the green area of the Apokoronas, southeast of the city of Chania, on the route Neo Chorio - Pemonia - Melidoni. Here you'll find friendly residents that find it special that you come and have a look at their village and they invite you for coffee or raki. In the village there are a number of small farms with chickens, and small plastic greenhouses or fields with vegetables on it. There are many older houses and in between are the usual ruins. There are also many old olive trees, some cacti and flowers in the village. Here and there a dog barks.
Above the village is the pretty Agios Antonios church on a hill, and behind it are some small caves. Sheep and a shepherd walk around. A little further into the village towards Melidoni on the left side of the road there is a larger church. If you head towards Melidoni you will see some more, including a tiny on on the roadside, where you have a nice view over the valley.
