The village of Zounaki on Crete
The village of Zounaki in the northwest of Crete is situated a few miles south of Maleme, at the end (or beginning) of the Lagos Canyon. Chania lies at 25 kilometers distance. Zounaki is a small and traditional village with only about 80 inhabitants. It is situated at an altitude of around 100 meters and surrounded by orange trees and olive groves. There is also a beer brewery in the village. In the area surrounding Zounaki there are a few interesting churches, like the church in the picture (a little outside the village), which had a special name and was supposedly interesting, but unfortunately it was closed.
