The village Goudouras in the south of the island of Crete
Goudouras is a village in the southeast of the island of Crete. It is a farming community / vegetable store situated on a fertile plain directly at the sea, with lots of greenhouses and a couple of farms and houses. There are two churches (a large square one with an extension in the front and with a dome and a simple bell tower, and a small church at the beach that is called "The Old Temple of Despair"), a caf-bar where you can also order fast food, and a petrol station. Behind the village there are the mountains and the area becomes quite deserted. In Goudouras the road turns north towards Agia Triada, Ziros and the beaches of Xerokampos and Kato Zakros. Goudouras has a couple of beaches in and near the village. These beaches have no facilities like umbrellas and sunbeds, and they are not so sheltered or private because of the proximity of the farms. You will find a couple of trees on them if you are in need of shade.
In a large picturesque bay nearby lies the sand beach of Asprolithos, where there can be quite some wind from time to time.

At the edge of the village of Goudouras, just over the rocks, there is a pebble beach where it is usually very quiet, and that is out of sight of the houses in the village. At this place naturists could see if they can go into the sea without any swimwear. There is not a lot of shade here but nearby there is a bench that sits in the shade of a large tree. Here you can also find the rare white beach lily.
