The beach of Livadia and the beach of Stomio on Crete

There are a few beaches with the name Livadia beach on the island of Crete. One of them is in the north to Kissamos. This Livadia beach is somewhere else.
This Livadia beach and some small coves with beaches are in the southwest of Crete. The large beach and other beaches in the area are pebble beaches and some pieces of the boulders are quite large. They are also not very popular with tourists, but they are quiet. Occasionally you see someone on the beach. In any case it is a beautiful sight. The area is accessible from the village of Chrisoskalastissa and the exit is marked on a sign. The distance to the first beach (Stomio beach) is about a kilometer and leads along a beautiful coastal road.
In the village of Livadia beach are a few tourist facilities, and there are some accommodations for rent. It is a nice area for people who love snorkeling.

South of Livadia beach lies the beach of Stomio - here in the pictures (Stomio = Greek for "Mouth"). It's named so because a river runs into the sea here. At Stomio Beach is what appears to be a completely derelict ghost town and a former factory where gypsum was made, and there is a port with a jetty. Not long ago (in 2010) there were plans to open the factory again, but it met with great resistance from the local population. On the beach stands also the Agios Theodoros church which dates back to 1881. At Stomio beach there are no facilities (no taverna and no umbrellas and sunbeds for hire). North of Stomio is Livadia beach.
