The village of Kardamiana is located in the south of the Heraklion district, not far from the larger village of Zaros. It can be reached via a junction on the route from Agia Varvara to Zaros. Kardamiana is a small village in a row of three villages, which almost seems to be just a village. To the north lies Gergeri and in the south Mastrachiana. About 130 people live in Karmadiana.
In the village is the large Agia Irini Chrysovalantou church with its domes and bell tower. In the west of the village is the older Agios Ioannis church, which is smaller, but there are even more churches in the village. Kardamiana is not on a transit route and it is a quiet village. Most people live from agriculture.
