Kapetaniana is a small and very quiet village high up in the mountains south of Agii Deka. It consists of two tiny villages: Kato and Ano Kapetaniana. Time has stood still here. We passed this village on the way to the beach of Tris Ekklisies in the south of Crete, a village that we never reached, because the road stopped in Ano Kapetaniana. In this traditional Cretan village there are stone houses that are painted white, chickens that walk around the street and the sound of silence reigns.
