SEITAN LIMANIA BEACH ON THE ISLAND OF CRETE

Seitan Limania beach is located on the east side of the Akrotiri peninsula. It is about 20 kilometers distance from the city of Chania. Seitan Limania beach is also known as the "Devil's Beach". To reach it you drive from the airport to Chordaki and then to Akropoli. As you drive through the village of Akropoli, you'll see a sign that says "Seitan Ports of Ag. Spyridonas". Shortly after that the road splits. The road on the left leads to the highest point of the peninsula The road on the right goes down. You'll also see a large church on the coast, the Ekklisia Agios Spiridon. This church is named after the bishop of Trymithous, the son of a shepherd, who was born in Cyprus and according to tradition has performed miracles.

From the church you continue to drive down to the coast when the road ends at the parking of Seitan Limania beach. The asphalt road to the beach is now completed and has recently been made wider, and you do not have to open a gate to drive on. After about a kilometer you are there. Seitan Limania beach is not organised and there are no umbrellas for rent. There is also no taverna so you have to bring your own water if you go there. From the parking you have to climb down an path for about 15 minutes. It requires good shoes and some agility. For small children or for people like me who have a fear of heights, it is therefore not recommended.
