Melampbes (named like that on the road map, but often refered to as Melambes) is a small village just a few kilometers north of Agia Galini on the way to Spili and Rethimnon.
Melampbes / Melambes has about 1000 inhabitants of which a number work in the tourism industry in Agia Galini during the summer months.
In the village are the usual amenities like tavernas and a supermarket. The village itself has as far as know no special sights (except maybe the attractive memorial and the church that you can see on the picture), but the surroundings are beautiful and there are lovely views over the sea (the village is situated at about a 550 meter altitude).
