The village of Ramni on Crete
Ramni is a pretty large and quite long stretched village at the foot of the White Mountains in the Apokoronas region, southeast of the city of Chania. It is accessible via the route Neo Horio - Ramni - Kares. The village of Kares where the road ends is a small, quiet mountain village in a natural surrounding. In Ramni there is a bit more life going on. It lies along the side of the road and is sort of split in two. You think you've left the village and you enter the net village when you are driving here, but then the village continues.
In Ramni there are a number of facilities. There is a kafenion in Ramni and there is also a tavern where you can eat something. From the tavern and from some paths in the village you have a magnificent view of the nature surrounding the village. In Ramni there is a large church with a bell tower and just outside the village, as you drive toward Maheri, there is another a nice little church on the side of the road.
